What we use personal data for
The public site is a product page and a news section. We process personal data only to answer enquiries, keep the site secure, publish comments you choose to send, and — if you allow it — understand which pages are useful.
- Demo and contact requests. Name, email, company, subject, and message from the contact form. We use them to reply and follow up about NixShield. The legal basis is steps you ask us to take before a possible contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
- Article comments. The name and comment you submit. Approved comments are shown on the article. The legal basis is your consent, given by sending the comment.
- Visit records. On each public page the server stores the IP address, a country derived from that address, the path, user agent, and referrer. This is a server log, not a cookie. We use it for security and a basic picture of traffic. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the site.
- Optional analytics. If you accept cookies, Google Analytics (measurement ID G-J62V5SDT7H) receives technical and usage data so we can see which sections and articles people read. The legal basis is your consent. If you reject cookies, this tag is not loaded.
- Spam protection. The contact form and comment form can use Google reCAPTCHA. Google may set its own cookies and receive technical data such as your IP address in order to tell people from bots. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping those forms usable.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser. This site uses two kinds:
- Preference cookie (
nixshield_cookie_consent), kept for up to 12 months. It remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics so the bar does not return on every visit. The same choice is also stored in your browser’s local storage. This cookie is necessary for the consent mechanism itself. - Analytics cookies from Google, such as
_gaand_gid, only after you press Accept. Google uses them to recognise a returning browser and build aggregated reports. Google’s own retention for these cookies is typically up to 24 hours for_gidand up to 2 years for_ga.
Rejecting optional cookies does not limit the product pages, news, or the contact form. You can change your mind by clearing this site’s data in your browser; the bar will show again.
The admin area uses a separate session cookie for signed-in operators. That cookie is not set for ordinary visitors.
Who else receives data
Contact messages are delivered to the operator by email. If analytics or reCAPTCHA is active, Google processes the related technical data as an independent provider. Google may process data outside the European Economic Area under its own transfer safeguards. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising profiles.
How long we keep it
Contact messages are kept for as long as the conversation and any related licence or deployment discussion needs them, then deleted. Comments stay with the article until you ask us to remove them or the article is taken down. Visit records stay in the site database for security review and traffic statistics. The consent cookie expires after 12 months, or sooner if you delete it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal data, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that already happened. You can also lodge a complaint with the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic (Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov SR).
To use these rights, email roman@nixshield.com. Please describe the request clearly so we can find the right record.
